About Us

The Louisiana-Mississippi Hospice Palliative Care Organization (LMHPCO) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, educational corporation with roots dating back to 1988. Our mission is to improve the quality of hospice & palliative services for everyone throughout Louisiana and Mississippi and we accomplish this primarily through research, professional education, public awareness and advocacy. We are funded primarily by our members, the educational products we produce and grants we receive for special efforts, such as our Prison Support Project. We work closely with the VA to improve services and care for our Veterans, with emergency management officials in both states to ensure greater patient safety and better coordination of care through Advance Care Planning and Caregiver coalitions. Through our 501(c)(4) Alliance for the Advancement of End of Life Care, we advocate for hospice patients and providers with legislators and regulators in Baton Rouge, Jackson and Washington, DC. You can find links to all of the services we offer, as well as those of our members, in this section of the website.

We invite you to join us and become part of this effort to improve end of life care in Louisiana and Mississippi. If you can’t find the information you’re searching on our website, contact us directly at 1-888-546-1500 or by email at [email protected] and we'll be happy to assists you.
